چکیده

Phototherapy is a proven treatment for various skin disorders, but it is also effective for preventing certain seasonal photodermatoses through the induction of phototolerance (photohardening). Combalia et al. describe their experience with the use of fixed-regimen phototherapy to prevent polymorphic light eruption. The protocol consisted of 8 sessions in which the patients received fixed starting and incremental doses, regardless of skin type and the fact that over half of the patients had some degree of photosensitivity. The treatment produced satisfactory results in 87% of cases, although treatment success does not necessarily mean full or lasting tolerance for the whole summer. Phototherapy is undoubtedly a safe treatment. While short, treatment triggers polymorphic light eruption reactions in a third of patients, but this does not limit treatment or alter prognosis, suggesting that it might be interest-

Narrow-band UVB (TL-01) phototherapy: an effective preventative treatment for the photodermatoses.

Twenty patients with photodermatoses [actinic prurigo (n = 6), hydroa vacciniforme (n = 4), idiopathic solar urticaria (n = 1), amiodarone-induced photosensitivity (n = 1) and a range of cutaneous porphyrias (n = 8)] were treated with a 'hardening' course of narrow-band ultraviolet B (TL-01) phototherapy in springtime. The response to phototherapy was monitored subjectively, by interviewing pat...

The Effect of Intensive Phototherapy on Management of Hyperbilirubinemia in Neonates with the Gestational Age of 34 Weeks and More

Background: Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most common causes of neonatal morbidity and a global health priority. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of intensive phototherapy on management of hyperbilirubinemia with different etiologies. Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted on 219 neonates with indirect hyperbilirubinemia, who had the indication for photothera...

Mirror covered tunnel phototherapy increases the efficacy of phototherapy for neonatal jaundice

Objective: Neonatal  jaundice (NJ)  is  one of the  most  common  cause  of  neonatal  hospital  admission.  Phototherapy is the main therapy for hyperbilirubinemia of neonatal jaundice. The efficacy of phototherapy depends on the dose and wavelength of light used and the surface area exposed. The effect of Ophthalmic Patch on Conjunctiva of Neonates under Phototherapy

Objective Conjunctivitis is a common disease in neonates. Several bacterial and viral infectious agents may cause it. Tear circulation and blinking has protective effects from bacterial colonization in the conjuntival sac. Reduced blinking increases the possibility of bacterial conjunctivitis. We studied the effect of eye patches on bacterial colonization of the conjunctival sac.  Methods In 1...
